Brilliant Gastro Pub in the heart of Dulwich. The scene was set on a chilly January Saturday evening, mature crowd engrossed in conversation on the wide and comfortable looking sofa's.
Our evening started with a Rekorderlig and Bulmers Cider before taking our seat in the packed restaurant area which has table service throughout the evening. Due to the full nature of the restaurant the service was a little slow at times but always friendly when being served.
To get the pallet going we shared a Mushroom and Cherry Tomato Bruschetta but it was what to choose for the main where we struggled with the imaginative and hearty menu which included Venison Lasagne. With cravings for Pie all week we plumped for the Fish Pie which was served in a Jacket Potato and a Steak and Ale Pie with Mash Potato (mash has to be ordered as a side dish). The food was of excellent quality and I'm sure a revisit will be on the cards!
This lovely meal was washed down with some nice Rose wine at a total cost of just over £50.
Gastro Greglarr rating 7/10
Gastro Greglarr likes - the imaginative menu that makes you wish to return
Gastro Greglarr dislikes - having to pay for mash as an extra in a Gastro Pub
